The United States has started bidding to host the Rugby World Cup and Vancouver is listed as a potential host city. The bidding is for the Men's Rugby World Cup in 2027 or 2031 and for the Women's Rugby World Cup in 2029. This is the first time a country has offered to host both a men's and a women's competition. The Men's Rugby World Cup is held every four years and has never been held in North America before. Edmonton hosted the Women's Rugby World Cup in 2006.
