"We hovered on Sunday," said Matt Kaplan, just before the whistle transmitter started.
Kaplan was with a group of
friends from Long Island, New York, who were spending nearly a week in
southeastern Wisconsin. "We played whistle. Then we played Ireland. Then
we played Blackwolf Run. We played 36. We played Erin Hills. Now we played
around. Get it together."
Washington County's Mount
Irene is the site of the 2017 US Open Golf Championship. It is about an hour's
drive from the Kohler Golf Hotel and is also a popular venue for out-of-state
golfers.
Dan Steinberg, also from New
York, said his team would love to come. "We saw the Ryder Cup and knew it
was going to be held here this year, and we wanted to try and get somewhere
before or after here," said Steinberg.
Kohler golfers are not only
happy with the progress of Ryder Cup week
but also happy with the ongoing crowds.

“Wisconsin has become a
global golf destination,” explains Mike O'Reilly, director of golf operations
at PGA Blackwolf Run and Whistling Strait. "One of the best in the world is
in Wisconsin. I think the Ryder Cup proves this very well, and we showed it to
the world. I think people will keep coming." O'Reilly stated that they
have golf booked until 2023.
