Pakistan skipper Babar on
Saturday picked Kane Williamson and Hasan Ali the players to watch out for in
this T20 World Cup happening in the United Arab Emirates and Oman. Pakistan the
T20 World Cup winner of 2009, will play their debut match of this world cup
against India on 24 October at Dubai International Stadium.
“Kane Williams as batter and
Hasan Ali as a bowler, who would have a successful T20 World Cup 2021,” said
Babar Azam in a virtual press conference by ICC.
Sri Lanka skipper Dasun
Shanaka, who was also present in the conference, picked opening batsman of
India Rohit Sharma and Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan to have a successful T20
World Cup.
Meanwhile, Babar Azam also
shows confidence in the Pakistan team to do well in the T20 World Cup as the
players have good experience of playing in the United Arab Emirates and Dubai.
"We have played a lot of cricket in UAE and the
conditions suit us and we have to be best in all departments," said Babar
Azam.
Speaking on his batting form, Babar said, "Representing my country
is an honor for me and I feel proud to sit as the captain. It is a new
challenge and I believe we will do better."
"Definitely good performances give you confidence. And it's good to
know that I am in good form before the World Cup and I just need to be
confident," Babar added.
Veteran Pakistan batsman Shoaib Malik was added to the squad as the
replacement for Sohaib Maqsood last week. However, Babar Azam is not sure whether
the veteran player will make it into the playing squad or not.
"Ya definitely he (Shoaib) is one of the fittest
guys and he has huge experience but let see how things pan out," said
Babar.
Pakistan will play their second match against New
Zealand on October 27 in Sharjah Cricket Stadium, UAE.
