Povey qualified for Canada through his Montreal-born mother. He made his national debut in 2017 but was eliminated, missing the 2019 Rugby World Cup trials.

SaberCats in Major League Soccer helped him revive his international career.
This year he won five out of eight games and now his goal is to play on the
biggest stage of the competition.
"It will be incredible,
a dream come true," he said of the Rugby
World Cup.
