Six Nations Tickets: French favourite and England rebuild in remarkably random Six Nations
Twickenham Stadium has a special scent on match days. It's the smell of perspiration and condensation, sizzling sausages and onions, spilled beer, dirt, waxed coats, wet wool when you get close. Before they banned smoking, you smoked puffs of cigars too. Six Nations Rugby Fans can buy Six Nations Tickets from our website.

I never thought I would miss it especially, but anything that brings a spring feeling is welcome these days. After losing so much colour and fun as the Six Nations played in empty stadiums for the past two years, the prospect of returning again feels great.
This is something other fans
will never understand. When people say the Six Nations is the best tournament
in the world, they're not talking about the quality of rugby, they're talking
about everything around it: merry cheers and feasting on beer, walks along
Whitton Road, Royal Wales strict goat, La Marseillaise's first outburst and
(better for everyone else) the way the French would scream and whistle when
they lose, on grey days when the opposing coaches are called Caught behind the
pipe band they were very slow in the bustle of Murrayfield, The Fields of
Athenry, the disturbance Cardiff city centre.
Taking back all that or as
much as travel fans' restrictions allow is enough. But this year, by the way,
rugby has gotten pretty good as well. Just ask Eddie Jones. He often crossed
his fingers when asked about his opinion of the tournament.
Well, perhaps Jones will
say, as England are fifth in 2021, but even those who are sceptical of most of
what he says will agree that he has a point. This game is going to be the most
competitive in years.
At the end of November, the
North won four teams in the Southern Hemisphere. England beat South Africa by
one point, Wales beat Australia by one point and France beat New Zealand by 15
points in the best game of the year. It was the first time since 2002 that
three teams were defeated in the same weekend.
Scotland, which beat
Australia two weeks ago, beat Japan in Murrayfield. The next day, Ireland, who
defeated the All Blacks last week, defeated Argentina 53-7. If you're European,
this is the best Test Rugby weekend in a long time.
Perhaps Jones will say, as England are fifth in 2021 |
The world has changed drastically, but not quite for the better. South Africa and New Zealand top the list, and they and Australia also have good reasons for their underperformance in the Tour, but there's no denying that they're excited.
“The six or seven best teams
in world rugby are strong right now,” All Blacks head coach Ian Foster said in
the late fall. Jones agreed: "The five bigger countries are all on an
upward trajectory."
Each of them can beat the other
and each believes they have what it takes to win a Grand Slam, which is why
it's never been more difficult to pull it off.
It speaks volumes about the
great performance of France, who was the favourite, to begin with. The schedule
suits them too, as it started with home games against Italy and Ireland and
they have steadily grown stronger under Andy Farrell. They have now won the
last eight Tests.
England is interesting,
still rebuilding, Jones said, and the question is: "Can we play really
good rugby in five games and continue on the path we've set for ourselves, with
an exciting group of young players and older players." back who want to
prove they can still be the best." Their game could decide whether they
can win their first game at Murrayfield.
Scotland is also looking for
more consistency. They gave their best last year with away wins over England
and France but still finished fourth after home defeats to Ireland and Wales.
Champion’s Wales, as always,
seem to be struggling with injuries, but seem to find a way to win so many
times that you'd be foolish enough to pass up their chances.
