Fagerson, 23, has been a backbone behind club and country in recent seasons, starting three of four autumn tests in 8th place for Scotland. Most recently he played on the blind wing in Glasgow to house Jack Dempsey in the number 8.

His brother and team-mate Zander signed a new deal with Glasgow in the summer and Matt did not hesitancy to follow suit. The 17-time striker hopes the constancy of his new contract will help him cement his place in the Scottish side. He was named to Gregor Townsend's Six Nations squad last week with a view to the Rugby World Cup 2023 in France.

"It was a no-brainer to stay with a club, I thought had real ambitions. I enjoyed my time with the Warriors and was going in a special direction," Matt Fagerson told glasgowwarriors.org.

"I'm sure Glasgow will give me a platform to do that I want to play at the next France Rugby World Cup and play for Scotland regularly.

"I'm starting to work with people like Rory Darge, I feel like I can keep developing my game here and Jack Dempsey, and the coaches are helping me develop my game leadership."

Perth-born Fagerson made his Glasgow debut against the Canadian A, in the 2016/17 prep, marking the occasion with a try. He signed his first professional contract in October 2017 and has been a fixture in the team ever since.

“He has done a lot of work both defensively and offensively and played well for us, it is good to update that additional Scotland international has re-signed with the club. We are delighted to see him continue to wear the Warriors jersey," Glasgow Warriors coach Danny Wilson said.
