An earlier spot on the schedule makes this redundant as players will have more time to play in the last major of the year, but more will have the chance to excel at the TPC Deere Run in Silvis next year, giving them a chance to play in the UK.

 Among the top five players who had not previously qualified for the British Open, the No. 1 JDC player had earned a spot in the field in previous years. In 2022, the opportunity will be awarded to three players in the top 10. No such waiver will be available in 2021 due to pandemic concerns, but Jordan Spieth (2013) and Bryson DeChambeau (2017) have received such waivers in the past.

JDC Executive Director Clair Peterson also announced the fundraiser for the tournament's 50th anniversary last year. It elevated $12,568,038 for 470 local contributions in the Quad Cities area.
