As expected, halftime Leicester Tigers Ford has been called up ahead of Owen Farrell's return for the Saracens at the weekend with another ankle injury.

And Daly, who was ruled out of head coach Jones' initial 36-man draft, is back in the game after Jonny May suffered a knee injury.

But while winger May will miss England's opening game of the Six Nations against Scotland on Saturday 5 February, he is not ruled out at this stage.

Farrell's departure from the team currently in Brighton for a five-day training camp means Jones will appoint a new captain ahead of the Calcutta Cup clash at Murrayfield.

However, a likely contender for the role in Courtney Lawes was unable to train this week as he returned to action with a head injury.

Saracen striker Nick Isiekwe, who was capped by Jones during the 2017 Tour of Argentina, has been called up to cover.

Ford's recollection gives him a chance to reinvigorate his international career, and the absence of the original Six Nations team announced last week has raised concerns as he has been with Gallagher Premiership. Since joining last fall was dropped by Jones during the National Series the premier league.

Daly, who can play as a fullback, wing or centre, has been ruled out after returning to the Saracen club in December after a four-month injury.

"They're all being considered, every aspect of their game that needs attention, whether the gym needs improvement, and they've all been discussed individually," Jones said last week of those not on his list from players outside the team.

"If I don't pick them, they have to play at a level. They all have areas to improve in their game, I'm going to be an idiot."
