Three-time champion O'Connell, now Ireland's striker, believes Ireland should play against a dangerous team from England.

“I think England is bubbling up and about to put in a great performance, so what we have done, should be done better," he said.

"We didn't take it because of some small mistakes but we had the chance at the weekend to try and score. We did that against France and I think we had a chance, but when we managed to put pressure on the team we have not provided the kind of details that we provide.

“It’s a huge effect for the guys. When these guys play for Ireland they are never short of intention, desire or feeling, it's just that keep calm on important occasions.

"There's not one specific area. Everything just has to be more correct."
