Scoring issues have plagued Mexico for the past year, and Mexico’s best forwards have struggled with fitness and form in recent months, and it’s unclear if some of them will be able to recover in time.
Mexico will use the final World Cup training camp and a friendly on November 9 to help Martino decide to bring 26 players to Qatar from a preliminary list he will submit a month before the competition.

Strengths

Mexico vs. Poland, lineup
Assume Martino will go with the tried and true Monterrey duo of Cesar Montes and Hector Moreno against Lewandowski. Ajax right-back Jorge Sanchez and Genk left-back Gerardo Arteaga will be the favourite full-backs to join their back four.
Edson Alvarez of Ajax is a fixture in the centre of Mexico. On the left is veteran Andres Guardado or livewire Luis Chavez, and on the right is Eric Gutierrez from Eindhoven or former Atletico Madrid player Hector Herrera.
In addition to Chucky Lozano, the speedy Uriel Antuna will be a real weapon in a different wing position. If Raul Jimenez is not yet a complete match, Feyenoord target Santi Jimenez is expected to be the next best option to collide with the Polish centre-back.

Can Mexico replace players on the FIFA World Cup squad?
Once the final 26-man roster has been officially established, the World Cup team can only be changed before the opening game of the tournament, and only in exceptional circumstances.
According to the Official Rules: “A player on the final roster may only be substituted due to serious injury or illness within 24 hours of the start of his team’s first game.”
The team in question must submit a medical report to FIFA, and a replacement will be allowed if the world governing body determines that the “injury is serious enough to inhibit the player from joining in the 2022 FIFA World Cup”. Substitutions must be drawn from the preliminary squad submitted to FIFA in October.
