Argentina World Cup squad 2022: Full matches, group, odds and more

Argentina's goal for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar is clear or projected squad: to give Lionel Messi the final he deserves to win the World Cup. The 35-year-old will be playing for the fifth time and has confirmed. It will be his last rodeo on the biggest football stage: “There’s some fear and tension at the same time. It’s the last one,” he admitted in a recent interview. Qatar FIFA World Cup fans can buy Poland Vs Argentina Tickets from our website.

So close to victory in 2014, with Argentina losing to Germany in the final, and then frustrated by France’s loss in the round of 16 four years earlier. Messi’s chances of winning the Jules Rimet trophy seem over.

But new coach Lionel Scaloni oversaw a remarkable rebuild for the Whites last season. A complete overhaul of the team after some well-known and experienced coaches turned down the job after the Football World Cup 2018 in Russia.

He has always had Messi in focus but tackled his limitations in the twilight of his career – creating a role in the system that allowed him to be purely a maker and organizer, exposed to almost all defensive responsibility. The all-time great may not have the speed he had in pomp and pageantry. But the football genius is still there and Lautaro Martinez before him did all the relentless running and pushing for a man ten years his senior.

Scaloni helped Argentina end their 28-year quest for major trophies with a win at the 2021 Copa America, qualifying for CONMEBOL in Qatar before beating European champions Italy in the final. The team is 35 games unbeaten in the competitive competition and should have no trouble negotiating Group C with Saudi Arabia, Poland and Mexico before the knockout stages really start. A third World Cup win – built in 1978 and 1986 – is a real possibility.

Ones to watch

Star – Lionel Messi: Messi is still the man to impress Argentina sometimes the obvious answer is right. The FIFA World Cup trophy is a glaring omission in the legend’s illustrious career or squad. He has changed his game with speed and stamina with age. But his left-legged wand is still a phenomenon and he is the ultimate race winner.

After a mixed first season at Paris Saint-Germain. The little maestro has played his best football in years this season. While Scaloni has built a team around his strengths and limitations. Talented team-mate Messi will shine in Qatar. Football World Cup 2022 fans can buy Qatar FIFA World Cup Tickets from our website.

Brilliant talent – Christian Romero: The Premier League, and Tottenham in particular, fans know Christian Romero’s talent. But Qatar 2022 will provide him with a platform to show the world. The 25-year-old is an excellent central defender and is Argentina’s defensive leader. A rare defender who can change the game through his interventions and build defences around them.

He is strong in the air, intimidating in one-on-one situations, quick enough to recover from mistakes and can easily get the ball out. He is an all-around modern centre-back, with Nicolas Otamendi forming a formidable partnership.

Prediction

For Messi’s final leg it was really made or break for Argentina to be in Qatar. The group stage should not be a problem and they will be favourites for eventual matches in the last 16 and quarter-finals against Denmark and the Netherlands respectively.

If all goes well, a coveted semi-final will take on Brazil, which is desperate for revenge. After the 2021 Copa America final and the winner could pick up the trophy. Disaster aside, Argentina would have to go very deep into this game. They could give Messi a fairytale ending…to win the Football World Cup.

Supercomputer expects Argentina and Lionel Messi will be the ones to lift the 2022 FIFA World Cup

Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo will meet in the 2022 FIFA World Cup final, with Messi’s Argentina expected to beat Ronaldo’s in a Qatar penalty shootout, a supercomputer predicts the Portuguese team.

The research, conducted by BCA Research, was published in the special report ‘The Most Important of All Predictions 2nd Edition: FIFA World Cup 2022. BCA Research draws match results based on player statistics from EA Sport FIFA matches and a sample of 192 group matches and 64 knockout matches played during the 2006, 2010, 2014 and 2018 FIFA World Cups.

In all fairness, the math and rationale behind this research have fueled the spirit of FourFourTwo, and the researchers at BCA Research are clearly much smarter than us. What is clear, however, is that they predict Messi will be the player to take home the trophy on December 18 – and bookmakers only place them fourth among the World Cup favourites.

BCA Research

BCA Research said: “After much deliberation, we believe that Argentina and Lionel Messi will ultimately win the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.”

While we are happy with our choice, Argentina will have many exciting matches in the knockout phase, with the final being basically a toss.

“So the chance [sic] of them winning the cup is only 7%, even the most popular.”

BCA Research has also determined that a shootout between Argentina and Portugal is most likely to end in the final, with the former country leading on penalties. Argentina has won four of the five penalty shootout series of the World Cup squad, with a success rate of 77%.

Portugal had just one penalty shootout against England in 2006, scoring three out of five penalties, a 60 per cent success rate.

The study also takes into account the fact that Argentina is currently in much better shape, having not lost since July 2019 and winning Copa America last summer.

Elsewhere, England was expected to be strong, only to lose again in later rounds. The survey has been rated as Qatar’s most valuable team and also takes into account that England is the favourite for many bookmakers to win matches.

BCA Research does show that England cannot completely give up on winning games because this research is based on probability.

“Our models predict that England will fail again and lose to Portugal in the semi-finals. However, in a close game, anything can happen, and given the talent of Gareth Southgate, it would be unwise to give it up altogether.”

“While the economic turnaround remains too ambitious, the 2022 FIFA World Cup remains an excellent opportunity for England to regain its former glory on the football pitch.”

Regardless of England’s odds, Lionel Messi vs Cristiano Ronaldo in the World Cup final is what everyone wants to see.
