Germany World Cup squad 2022: All expected 26 players on Germany's team roster for Qatar

Germany’s disappointment at the 2018 FIFA World Cup forced changes within the national team, with Joachim Love ultimately choosing to resign from the top position. Hansi Flick has made his squad optimistic again for the 2022 Football World Cup in Qatar, with the Germany World Cup record boosting them. Qatar FIFA World Cup fans to buy Spain Vs Germany Tickets from our website.

Despite dropping out of the group stage in Russia four years ago, Germany is one of the most consistent national teams in World Cup history, winning two semi-finals since 2002 and finishing second in 2014.

With a well-balanced squad with an experienced core and some of Europe’s most exciting young players, Flick is sure to recover his losses in 2018.

The flick will submit an official preliminary roster of 35-55 players to FIFA by Friday, October 21, from which he will select the final roster of 26 Qatari players on Monday, November 14.

Those names are most likely to appear on his preliminary roster, based on last year’s World Cup qualifiers and friendlies.

Stars, strengths and weaknesses of the German national football team

In 2018, Russia shattered previous World Cup perceptions of Germany, and Flick will be under some pressure to erase it from national football’s memories.

2018 could well be a turning point in the German World Cup record, with every edition since the turn of the century at least a semi-final.

Flick has been hailed as one of the best young coaches in international competition, but being out of the Euro 2020 round of 16 doesn’t do him justice.

Stars

Evergreen Bayern Munich duo of Marc-Andre Ter Stegen and Thomas Muller look set for their final World Cup, but their Bavarian teammates could be in Qatar. The key to mastering Flick.

Joshua Kimmich’s excellent form as a centrepiece in midfield is the foundation on which Germany has built with the goals and creativity of Serge Gnabry and Leroy Sane.

Strengths

Antonio Rudiger will support the German defence as part of Neuer-Kimmich-Muller’s backbone, and it will be an ability to control the central area that is crucial for Flick.

Manchester City star Ilkay Gundogan will be linked with Kimmich in midfield, while Leon Goretzka will also be selected if Germany needs to add a midfield body.

Weaknesses

The flick will likely switch between Muller and Chelsea star Kai Havertz as Qatar’s fake number 9, but while they each have the potential to score goals, they don’t have Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Robert Lewandowski as main attackers.

Germany Football World Cup Group

Germany travels to Qatar in 12th place in FIFA and will be sure to come out of Group E.

Their second group match, against Spain on November 27, appears to be Flick’s first major test at the World Cup, against Japan and Costa Rica respectively.

Germany vs. Japan lineup

Despite missing out on the final round of the Nations League, captain Ter Stegen will return as first-choice as a key figure alongside Flick. Rudiger also returns, alongside Niklas Sule as centre-back, and Robin Gosens could be an option as left-back if Flick wants to start up front.

Flick can do without Goretzka in the opening game, with the exciting Bayern trio Gnabry, Sane and Jamal Musiala after Muller or Havertz.

Can Germany replace players on the FIFA World Cup squad?

Once the final roster of 26 men has been formalized, teams participating in the World Cup can only make changes before the opening game of the tournament, and only in exceptional circumstances.

According to the official tournament rules: “A player in the final list will only be replaced due to a serious injury or illness within 24 hours before the start of his team’s first game.”

The team in question must submit a medical report to FIFA, and a replacement will be allowed if the world governing body determines that the “injury is serious enough to inhibit the player from joining in the 2022 FIFA World Cup”. Substitutions must be drawn from the preliminary squad submitted to FIFA in October.
