Homosexuality is unlawful in Qatar, but FIFA and the Qatari authorities have previously insisted that everyone is welcome to this year's competition.

However, a team of Norwegian, Swedish, and Danish journalists said they contacted 69 hotels on FIFA's official list of recommended accommodations - posing as a newlywed gay couple - and found that three of them were refusing to take reservations.

Twenty other hotels said they would accommodate them as long as they did not publicly identify themselves as gay.

According to reports from the Norwegian broadcaster NRK, the Swedish SVT, and the Danish DR, 33 hotels have no problems and are happy to book rooms for same-sex couples.

"FIFA is confident that all necessary measures will be taken for LGBT+ supporters so that they, like everyone else, feel welcome and safe during the tournament," the world football board told reporters in response to their inquiry.

It added that it had disclosed the findings to Qatar's Supreme Council of Delivery and Legacy (SC) during the World Cup.

The Football committee said, a safe and accessible FIFA World Cup experience for all Qatar was a "conservative country" but "committed to providing an inclusive". However, it added that it will take action against hotels that do not follow the rules. Football World Cup fans can buy Qatar FIFA World Cup Tickets from our website.

“Qatar welcomes everyone regardless of race, background, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or nationality. All fans should feel welcome to book accommodation in the knowledge that the privacy of persons living in or visiting Qatar is respected,” thus it.

"Which will provide housing for visiting fans more than 100 hotels in Qatar fans, officials, players, and other key stakeholders, will be required to fulfill with the supportable  Sourcing Code," a committee spokesman told Reuters.

“Therefore Hotel operators who adhere to sustainable procurement and guidelines are then monitored and assessed. SC takes any defilement of this Code or judgment very extremely.”

"We welcome more information on these claims to ensure that partners involved in the FIFA World Cup do not fall below the expected standard."

England manager Gareth Southgate has previously expressed concern, saying in March that he was unhappy that some fans would not feel safe attending the event due to concerns about human rights in the country.

That same month, FIFA president Gianni Infantino told The Associated Press: "Everyone will see Qatar welcome everyone, even when we talk about LGBTQ+."

The Qatar FIFA World Cup in 2022 will be held from November 21 to December 18.
