Ryder Cup 2023: Ryder Cup star Sergio Garcia related to Saudi Golf League opener

Sergio Garcia looks set to become one of the big names in the Saudi Golf League opener at Centurion Club in June, and it showed. Garcia has signed up for the PGA Tour for the $25 million tournaments, and as many as 20 PGA Tour professionals have reportedly signed up, The Telegraph reported. With tonight's deadline approaching, apparently, at least three major champions have signed up for the event. Ryder Cup fans can buy Ryder Cup 2023 Tickets from our website.

PGA Tour policy states that players must be released 45 days prior to the tournament date from participating in non-PGA Tour-approved events, and a decision is made 30 days in advance. That means we'll probably find out in 15 days which big names will be attending Greg Norman's inaugural LIV Golf Invitational Series.

Garcia's involvement has cast doubt on his possible future Ryder Cup captaincy, with DP World Tour chairman Keith Pelley vehemently opposing his members' participation in the new "Premier League". Pelley emailed DP World Tour members last week asking them to remain loyal amid the Saudi threat. In February, PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan reportedly told his members to "get out now" if they consider starting in the series.

Other possible future Ryder Cup captains, Lee Westwood and Ian Poulter have also been connected to the series. Henrik Stenson has also been named, but his involvement now seems unlikely after being named Europe 2023 Ryder Cup captain.

The Telegraph also reports that world No. 15 and 2010 Open champion Louis Oosthuizen may be the highest-ranked player to compete in the Centurion, along with South Africans Charl Schwartzel and Brandon Grace.

Garcia, who played in all four Saudi internationals between 2019 and 2022, reportedly paid six- to seven-figure appearances for major PGA and DP World Tour players. The Spaniard said ahead of this year's Saudi International, which was recognized for the first time by the Asian Tour and led to a backlash from the PGA and DP World Tour, views he learned from his home tour, "but they need to understand that we "I've been on the European Tour for 23 years and I've put a lot of effort into making it happen. I put a lot of effort into getting this done.

The infamous Garcia was disqualified from the inaugural tournament after damaging multiple greens. He apologized for his inappropriate behavior and has attended the event every year since.

Each of the first seven events of the new LIV Golf Invitational series will feature 48-player 54-hole stroke play with no cuts and a prize pool of up to $25 million. The first event collided on the PGA Tour with the Canadian Open, which had $8.7 million in prize money, and the DP World Tour's Scandinavian Mix, which also took place in the same week, with $2 million in prize money.

After the inaugural LIV Golf Invitational Series at Centurion, it then travels to Portland's Pumpkin Ridge, then New Jersey, Boston, Chicago, Bangkok, Jeddah, and then, if the reports are correct, this season's trip to Florida's Trump Doral - Ends the team tournament.
