Mexico will travel to the United States on May 28 for exhibition games with Nigeria in Arlington, Texas, Uruguay in Glendale, Arizona on June 2, Ecuador on June 5 in Chicago; and Paraguay in Atlanta on August 31.

"In sport, it is very important," said FMF president Yon de Luisa of the friendly matches that the national team prepared for the competition. “In terms of fan arrangement, we are speaking about more than five million fans who have visited the stadium in those 19 years.”

Manager Gerardo Martino told a press conference on Tuesday that his confidence the games would help "return to a level of football that we did not achieve in qualifying for the World Cup.

"We have dropped a lot in the level of our game but I think in terms of points we have very good qualifications and I think there will be a good chance this summer."

Mexico also has a friendly squad against Guatemala in Orlando on April 27, and Martino said he wanted to play 18-year-old Arsenal striker Marcelo Flores.

"We are annoying to get Arsenal to announcement Flores on the next call-up," said Martino of Flores, who has an older cap in Mexico but still qualifies for Canada and England.

Mexico qualified for the Qatar World Cup by finishing second at the Octagonal table at CONCACAF, qualifying for the eighth successive World Football Tournament.

Martino's side joined Argentina, Poland and Saudi Arabia in Group C in the World Cup draw in Qatar on April 1.

There was some hesitation as to whether Martino would coach Mexico at the World Cup after a frustrating qualifying cycle, but the FMF established on the same day that the draw took place that the Argentine would retain the lead over Qatar.
