FIFA says Ukraine Vs Scotland Qatar World Cup 2022 play-off will take place on June 1

World governing body FIFA announced on Thursday that the play-offs for the Qatar FIFA World Cup 2022 between Ukraine and Scotland have been moved after the Russian attack on June 1. The winner of the Glasgow Hampden Park match will face Wales on June 5 in Cardiff for a place in this year's Qatar Finals. Football World Cup Fans can buy FIFA World Cup Tickets from our website.

FIFA, backed by Wales, Scotland and Austria, at the request of Ukraine postponed the originally scheduled match date for March 24, with Wales ultimately beating those countries in the play-offs. That same day, FIFA also announced that Poland, which would face Russia in the play-offs, had already had a bye and would face Sweden's winner v the Czech Republic on March 29.

After beating Sweden, Poland eventually qualified for the World Cup final in Qatar from November 21 to December 18. Russia has been banned from the World Cup after being banned from all international competitions by FIFA and UEFA "until further notice".

"The rescheduled schedule has resulted in the UEFA Nations League's schedule being modified for some matches to accommodate the postponed play-offs," FIFA said in a report.

"FIFA would like to thank all parties involved for their solidarity and the spirit of cooperation that led to this common result."

Ukraine, Scotland and Wales are aiming to become the 13th European country to qualify for Qatar.

The playoff winners will join England, the United States and Iran in Group B, with the first game scheduled for November 21 against the United States at the Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium in Al-Rayyan. The Ukrainian league did not resume after the winter break and was suspended indefinitely after the Russian invasion on February 24.

FIFA eased its rules last month to allow homegrown Ukrainian players to move to foreign clubs without having to wait for the next transfer window. Previously, FIFA allowed foreign footballers and coaches working in Ukraine and Russia to temporarily suspend their deals and go elsewhere.
