Over the past decade, the gas-rich emirate has come under fire for its treatment of migrant workers, mostly from South Asia, who have to build multi-billion-dollar stadiums, transportation and hotels ahead of the men’s football show in 32 countries.

“As Qatar prepares to host the World Cup, Canadian Football supports further progress on workers’ rights and inclusion. FIFA itself has recognized these important issues and is working with member associations and stakeholders.”

“While great progress has been made in strengthening worker protection through the Qatari government’s labour reforms, we encourage all partners to continue the dialogue to ensure these reforms translate into a nationwide focus on rights and Inclusion of Workers after the Qatar FIFA World Cup Real Improvement in Sexual Protection 2022.”

“We believe the legacy of this game should be to inspire and encourage further improvement in the field, not just in Qatar, but across the region.”

Earl Cochrane secretary general of the Canadian Football

Earl Cochrane, secretary general of the Canadian Football Federation, noted that Canada has “a worldwide reputation as a country that stands up for human rights”.

“We have a very good track record as a leader here, so we feel it is important that we share this position with Canadians and a global audience at the same time,” he said in an interview.

Said the statement from the Canadian Football Association. . “We encourage all partners to continue their efforts to implement recent labour reforms and continue to address and address past labour abuse.”
