Brazil national football team stars, strengths & weaknesses
Currently, Brazil has racked up seven consecutive wins and has found form at the best possible moment on its way to the 2022 World Cup.
They are one of the main contenders to win the match and expectations will be high when they get home.
Stars
Big names won’t be much older than Neymar, and the Paris Saint-Germain striker will enter the World Cup without injury and in good form at the club level.
This current Brazilian squad is also not short on Premier League stars, with players like Roberto Firmino, Gabriel Jesus and Richarlison all set to shine in Qatar – assuming they are fit and ready. Richarlison’s latest injury will not keep him out of Qatar, but it has been suggested that Philippe Coutinho may not be selected due to Aston Villa’s poor form.
Strengths
An important element of any successful Brazilian team is attack, and they will have no shortage of that for the 2022 Football World Cup.
Tite let his star-studded side play great attacking football, scoring three or more goals in six of their last seven games before the game. The strikes were also shared, with no player carrying Brazil in the final third.
Weaknesses
As with most attacking teams, defence inevitably becomes a concern, and this was the case in Brazil. Their lack of speed at the back makes them vulnerable to counter-attacks, especially when their fullbacks get caught.
Another cause for concern is their recent World Cup record, which saw Brazil knocked out in the quarter-finals of 2018 and was infamous for beating Germany 7-1 in the 2014 semi-finals. Those results could raise doubts again if they happen in Qatar seeking redemption.
Brazil FIFA World Cup 2022 Group
Brazil is in Group G Football World Cup with Serbia, Switzerland, and Cameroon.
Selecao has not escaped the group stages of the World Cup twice (1930 and 1966) and will be a serious contender for the title in Group G in 2022.
If they do, they will face the number two in Group H in the round of 16, with Portugal, Ghana, Uruguay and South Korea.

Brazil vs. Serbia, lineup
Tite wants Brazil to make a statement in their opening game against Serbia and to field their strongest team.
With so much talent to choose from, the starting grid has shifted in recent years, leaving few clear spots. Brazil has also recently switched between 4-3-3 and 4-2-3-1 formations.
Brazil expected starting line-up against Serbia (4-3-3)
GK: Allison
Defenders: Danilo, Alex Telles, Marquinhos, Thiago-Silva
Midfielders: Neymar, Lucas Paqueta, Casemiro
Forwards: Vinicius Junior, Raphinha, Richarlison
Can Brazil replace players on the Football World Cup 2022 squad?
Once the final 26-man roster has been officially established, the World Cup team can only be changed before the opening game of the tournament, and only in exceptional circumstances.
According to the official tournament rules: “A player who makes the final list will only be replaced due to a serious injury or illness within 24 hours before the start of his team’s first game.”
The team in question must submit a medical report to FIFA, and a replacement will be allowed if the world governing body determines that the “injury is serious enough to prevent the player from participating in the FIFA World Cup”. Substitutions must be drawn from the preliminary squad submitted to FIFA in October.
