The 30-year-old player has competed in 66 tests since his debut in 2015 and was a member of the 2015 Rugby World Cup championship team.
Taylor said: “especially given the current Covid situation around the world, I’m very grateful for the opportunity to play in New Zealand.”
“My wife Lucy and I have a young family. Putting my family first is an important part of my decision. We love Christchurch here. We are settled and very happy.
“I’m really looking forward to playing for my team and fans at home, the All Blacks in the coming years and I want to achieve a lot with the Crusaders.”
