Eight African teams, Zimbabwe, Algeria, Burkina Faso, Namibia, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Uganda, and Senegal, will participate in the 2022 African Rugby Cup in France, the final qualifying round of the 2023 World Cup.
A report from Rugby Africa
said: "The executive committee has decided that France will host the Rugby
World Cup in 2023 as the host of qualifiers."

(responsible for organizing the Rugby World Cup 2023) is committed to hosting
matches of the highest international standards, be it concerns competition
locations, hotels, safety measures, health-related to Covid-19. The standard is

It added: "France and
African Rugby are already working closely together with the long tradition of
hosting African Rugby Championships and events. This will provide eight
participating teams with extraordinary matches and ideal conditions to focus on

qualify directly for the 2023 Rugby
World Cup."
The knockout matches will be
held in the first half of July and four exciting quarter-finals will be played
at the end of the group stage of the 2021 African Rugby Cup.

The Sables took part in the inaugural Rugby World Cup in 1987 and 1991 and met Ivory Coast in the quarter-finals. Namibia, which has been playing side by side with South Africa on behalf of the African continent since 1999, has been playing against Burkina since then 1999 Faso.
