Falcons vs Jets: Why Dorian Etheridge and Erroll Thompson stand out among the linebacker from within
Dorian Etheridge had 13 tackles in the preseason opener against Tennessee last week. A dozen of a cool baker, nine more guards than the next Atlanta Falcons. This is, you know, a lot. Fans can buy NFL London Tickets and Falcons vs Jets Tickets from our website.

While some people think tackles are an insignificant
statistic, there are so many tackles that show just how active the uneducated
rookie is around the ball. Even more impressive numbers: Etheridge lost 3
tackles. These are important games that force the killer to defend.
Etheridge isn't the only unwritten inside linebacker to make
a good impression on the Titans. Erroll Thompson did the same.
"[Dorian Etheridge] did a great job. He and Erroll
[Thompson] did it," Atlanta Falcons
coach Arthur Smith said after the Titans game. "Emmanuel [Ellerbee] is the
same. Dorian has played a few games, Deion [Jones], Foye [Oluokun], Mykal
Walker, Erroll, and Dorian, I'm very pleased with the linebacker room. Erroll,
I think his physical fitness is very good. Okay too. It's exciting. Those guys
are coming forward. I'm excited for them."
It's great to see that this is a reliable way to set yourself
apart from others and is essential for uneducated rookies trying to find a
place on the roster. Etheridge and Thompson can go uphill simply by playing the
Falcons' strongest and deepest defensive linebacker.
Both Deion Jones and Foye Oluokun are skilled players who can
screen, steal and chase quarterbacks. Mykal Walker provides excellent injury
protection and depth in this location. The fourth linebacker is vacant. Will
there be a fifth? This is only done when a special team needs it, but it means
playing light in a different position group.

Etheridge and Thompson made some tough decisions after a strong preseason start.
"It's Erroll [Thompson] and Dorian [Etheridge], I think
the two rookie insiders are doing well," Falcons coach Arthur Smith said
on Tuesday. "Different circumstances in Miami we'll see if they can resist
other plans and then Saturday night becomes important for them again."
Although they weren't perfect in the two days of joint
training, Etheridge and Thompson had some wonderful moments in the game against
Miami. It will be important to show growth between the Titans game and
Saturday's preseason game against Miami.
They will certainly play many games with the dolphins at Hard
Rock Stadium, and they must deliver high-quality game footage for defense and
special teams to build their solid first impressions.
Many of them don't have space, so they have to regularly
prove their worth to get real estate on the list of 53 people. If Etheridge and
Thompson can maintain good momentum, they both have a chance.
Even though Jones and Oluokun are often on the field,
creating and demonstrating versatility can lead to an important role.
"That's why sometimes we can be creative because of the
combination of the skills of these people," said Smith, referring to the
entire team of inside linebackers, if you want to be multiple, versatility is
key. "You can see for maybe you see three of these people on the pitch at
the same time. You can see two, but we mix and match. We think people who can
wear clothes will play a role in defense."
