Falcons vs Jets: Quarterback A.J. McCarron will be miss 2021 season

However, the Falcons and McCarron received bad news today: after a contact-free injury in the game against the Dolphins, the experienced quarterback will be absent for the entire 2021 season. This is devastating for McCarron. He will have to return to the game in 2022. Arthur Smith was clearly disturbed by the severity of his injury last night, heralding an ominous sign. McCarron played well until he fell. Suddenly the Falcons lost the veteran the coaching staff liked. There were only two quarterbacks on the roster.

There are strong signs that the Atlanta Falcons will finally sign a quarterback this week, fearing that after A.J. McCarron’s could easily see injury to Arthur Smith after last night's game. As you might expect, there aren't many capable backups.

Atlanta will now have to explore a very empty market for free players to find a replacement for McCarron, or at least someone will take over in the preseason final against Cleveland. Given the quality of the game there, Atlanta will likely choose to move on to the 53-man roster with Franks and see which teams get knocked out, but it remains to be seen, either way, they'll pretty much go down this week definitely draw.
