Cricketers' concerns of steel against Black Caps show England the way

England's rugby players have taken inspiration from the country's cricket team's thrilling victory over the Black Caps earlier this year as they look to emulate their World Cup triumph in Yokohama.

Before Eddie Jones' outfit sent the All Blacks tumbling out of the Rugby World Cup last week, the England cricket team shattered the hearts of Kiwi sports fans in July when they beat the Black Caps on a boundary count-back rule after a dramatic super over in the final of sport's showpiece event.

Jamie George is one of several cricket fans in England's squad and ahead of the World Cup final against South Africa, he said it was the ability of Eoin Morgan and co to hold their nerve under such tremendous pressure that stuck with the hooker.
"A big thing that I have thought about is the ability to perform your skill under the highest pressure," George told the Daily Mail.
"He's done it a thousand times before but doing it under that pressure, knowing he needs to get it there at that moment. Then Jos Buttler taking the stumps. Things like that. Doing your work under pressure."

As attractive as it may be to look ahead to the final result, George felt the key to England's chances was to forget about the big picture and remain focused on their individual roles.
That also meant not dwelling on their incredible 19-7 victory over the All Blacks in the semifinal and George praised coach Eddie Jones and captain Owen Farrell for keeping them on task.
"There was one thing Eddie highlighted. He said, 'You're going to get 1,000 WhatsApp messages a day; everyone asking you for tickets' and it has been that way. It would be very easy for us to just think that we have done it," George said in the Daily Mail.
"Look, we've done something pretty great, but we have an opportunity to do something special.
"The main thing is focusing on what we need to do now to get us in the best place for Saturday. That's definitely been the focus of the team. It's about making sure we recover and then switch off."
